Yes. A name report that shows an exact or partial conflict with an existing name will not be accepted. To avoid this issue, we conduct a pre-search for your proposed business name. If your proposed names are unavailable, we will contact you and request alternative names (up to three) at no cost.

Absolutely. Our agency has direct access to both the federal name database and the provincial government name database. All reports are valid and can be verified with Corporations Canada.

A name should have 2 elements, a distinctive (unique) element, that can not be similar or popular English words. It should be a generic name or made up words. The 2nd part is the descriptive element that basically describes the organization. The name may or may not have a suffix (no obligation) such as foundation, association, institute, society etc.

If your intention is to use this name for incorporation (limited liability company), please select one of the legal suffixes. All of them carry the same legal meaning; the choice is purely for appearance. If you plan to use this name for a sole proprietorship, Master Business License, trade name/business name registration, or non-profit organization, please choose the option "none."

Only one or two major activities should suffice, and the description can be very brief, ideally limited to a single line.
